The Pentium II OverDrive is a processor upgrade designed
for Pentium Pro (Socket 8) based systems. The Pentium II
OverDrive is nothing more than a Pentium II Xeon on a smaller
scale, using the Pentium II's design to place the L2 cache
externally off of the CPU, but on a card that would allow it to
operate at the same clock speed as the CPU itself. The chip has
a built in clock multiplier of 5.0x, and it derives its clock
speed based on the motherboard's set FSB frequency, so on a
60Mhz board (150/180MHz Pentium Pro systems) the processor
operates at 300MHz, on 66MHz systems (166/200MHz Pentium Pro) at
333MHz.
